Korean zombies are absolutely terrifying! Kudos to the brilliant make-up artists, and to the 1000% commitment by the zombie actors. The dialogue (via English subtitles for this reviewer) is at times deeply moving, and at others clever and playful. Filming favors intense close-ups of the characters' faces, highlighting the individual stories and trials of the cohort member. They are the last uninfected remnants of their cohort, and their school is ground zero of the virus outbreak. Instead, we are thrust into the crucible with a group of passionate, multi-talented, and highly-opinionated teens who must learn to trust one another and work together in order to survive. Specifically, there are almost no guns/swords/etc, and the protagonists never turn into zombie-killing pros. Aside from some notable hand-to-hand skirmishes and a few passing scenes with faceless military units, All of Us Are Dead stands out among zombie shows in its decision to avoid using violence as a driver of plot and solver of problems.
